Each name links to the recipe. I’ve included a short description for each dish. I hope you’ll like them and you’d might give one (or some) a try.

Le Gâteau Vert-Vert. Monet's favourite birthday cake
Le Gâteau Vert-Vert – It is a cake made by Monet’s wife for him, as this was his favourite cake. To make the recipe as original as possible, I’ve listened to a French podcast with the recipe. It is something different and delicious. It has a lot of pistachio marzipan and that gives the cake an amazing flavour.

Ratatouille
Ratatouille – There are plenty of recipes for ratatouille, but if you make this dish following this recipe, you’ll be able to see the difference. It takes a long time, that’s true though.

Mousse Au Chocolat – This is a recipe I found in a cookbook by well known French Chef Michel Roux, father of Michel Roux jr. you see in cooking shows at TV. I’ve tried it once and I loved it. I’ve made it many times after that, with dark chocolate. It works really great with flavoured dark chocolate, like chilli, orange, or mint. It’s so good and easy to make as well.

Creamy leeks – I’ve made this recipe a few times before finding out that it is actually French. It’s easy and delicious.

Confit D’Oignon – This works great as a side dish or starter. Of course, it can be added to different other meals, as adding a spoonful in a soup, to give it an extra layer of flavour. I like this a lot because it’s also so versatile.

Savarin – My husband likes this dessert a lot. He is found of this French dessert that made its way into Romanian cuisine. The sponge is made with yeast, so that’s something really different.

Baguettes – I’ve mentioned that the recipe is easy to make despite taking a long time to make. Most of the time is just waiting, but you don’t have to do a lot to it.

Religieuse a l’ancienne – It is a French dessert made with two sizes of eclairs in general. I’ve made it a bit different, to make it bigger. It is a fun dessert to make.

Coffee Fondant Fancies – A recipe I’ve made for the Great British Bake Off and that I loved. Coffee gives these such a wonderful flavour. I’ve decorated the fancies using a capuccino stencil, to make it more accurate.

Crêpes Suzette – I’ve seen the recipe for these, made by Monica Galetti at Masterchef. I thought it looked amazing and I gave them a try. It was so worth it.

  1. I’ve printed out that confit recipe. Looks very tasty! I’m not sure what kind of onions to use, but might go with vidalia.
