After chatting with hubby and finding a Turkish cookbook at the library, I decided to prepare 4 dishes from Turkey. There were so many other amazing dishes, I would definitely try more recipes from Turkey.
One of the starters is Smoked aubergines with yogurt. I liked it a lot, it was fresh and it’s something I will prepare again in the summer.
The second starter is Acvar, another summery dish. The colours are great and it’s most likely that I will prepare it the first time we’ll make a BBQ in the garden. I can’t wait.
For mains I’ve decided on Baked Houmous. I eat and cook houmous often, but before seeing the recipe in the cookbook, I had no idea there is such a thing as baked houmous. I loved it, it’s something that I will prepare again and again.
As a dessert I had to make Baklava. It’s a dessert I’ve enjoyed as a kid, living near the seaside in a city where there are plenty of nationalities. In the second grade I started taking Turkish classes and dance classes after school, organized by our Turkish librarian. It was so much fun, but sadly, all I can say now is “yes” and count to 10.
The baklava was easy to make, much easier than anticipated and it turned out delicious.
