I wanted to share another squash recipe, but tomorrow is Halloween and I thought a Halloween Black Pizza was too important not to share today. I used sliced cheese and cookie cutters for gingerbread. I realized only when the pizza dough was in the baking tray that I didn’t have any Halloween cutters. So, I had to improvise with what I already had at home. I think it looked very nice. I also used an ivy cutter to make some leaves.
Ingredients for 1 pizza:
– 200g strong white flour
– 100g strong wholemeal flour
– 200ml lukewarm water
– 6g Easy-Bake dried yeast
– salt
– black food colouring
– 1/2 tsp sugar
– 1 spoon of oil
– 1/2 can of chopped tomatoes in tomato juice
– chilli oil
– dried oregano
– dried basil
– olives
– vegan cheese slices
Make the dough like a normal bread dough. Using the stand mixer bowl, add the flour. Put the salt and the food colouring on a side, make a well in the flour and add the yeast, the sugar and pour the water. Mix on slow speed for a minute, then mix for another 6 minutes at medium speed.
Using a rolling pin, roll the bread dough and put in on a baking paper in the baking tin. Leave the dough to rise for 30 minutes or so. Meanwhile, make the tomatoes sauce by pouring the chopped tomatoes in a saucepan. Add the oil, the dried spices and leave to cook over medium heat. Stir form time to time and leave until the sauce is done.
Cut the olives and the cheese. I used a few vegan cheese slices, I’m going to add the remaining cheese pieces in an omelette.
Preheat the oven at 200C or 180C fan. While the oven is heating, assemble the pizza. Spread the tomatoes sauce over the pizza dough, put the cheese men and leaves on top. Add the olives cut to the pizza. I saw I didn’t add enough cheese men, so I made a few more.
Bake the pizza for 20 – 25 minutes.
Now is ready to be enjoyed.
