I like to experiment and Chocolate chips scones sounded like a great idea. So, I gave it a try and it turned out very good. I didn’t add any sugar as the chocolate is sweet and we eat them with jam. If you want more sugary scones, add 25g sugar.
For scones is important to have the right balance, as the dough should be wet. Use a kitchen scale, I use it every time when I’m baking scones.
Ingredients for 6 Chocolate chips scones:
– 115g self-raising flour white
– 110g self-raising flour wholemeal
– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– 30g butter
– 25g chocolate chips
– 1 egg
– 110 ml milk
Pre-heat the oven at 180C fan (200C conventional oven).
Measure and mix the dry ingredients. Beat the egg and incorporate the milk. Pour the egg on the dry ingredients and start mixing them. Keep a spoon of egg mixture in the bowl.
In a couple of minutes the dough should be ready. Roll the dough on a floured surface and cut the scones.
Place them on a baking parchment and brush them with the egg mixture. Bake the scones for 10-15 minutes.
Don’t forget the clotted cream and lots of jam.
