The idea of Banoffee pie with dark salted toffee came after making the toffee. I can’t emphasize enough how easy to make is a dessert when there is a jar of delicious toffee in the fridge.
I made the base of the dessert with oats as I find it much better than biscuits because they don’t have any flavour and this makes them versatile. Also, by using oats I can cut down on fat and sugar. I’m not saying this is the healthiest dessert, but I feel the taste is better with less calories. By using gluten free oats, the dessert is suitable for celiacs.
Ingredients for 2 servings of Banoffee pie with dark salted toffee:
– 4 spoons oats
– 15g butter
– 1 banana
– 4 spoons of whipped cream
– 4 spoons toffee
Melt the butter on low heat and add it to the oats.
Mix the oats with a spoon until the butter is incorporated.
Add slices of banana.
Put the whipped cream on top.
As the toffee is sweet, I’ve made the dessert with unsweetened whipped cream. If you prefer sweeter desserts, you can add some icing sugar in the whipping cream.
Add a couple of tea spoons of toffee on each dessert.
Decorate with banana slices and enjoy.
